ritch
Quick question, just for confirmation what I'm doing is okay really. I plugged my Sansamp output into the "Power Amp In" on the back of my SVT3 (bypassing the SVT's preamp), and found the volume of the amp to be completely controlled by the Sansamp - the master volume knob became my overall volume and the amp's Master level had no effect whatsoever. Is that the way it should be? I kind of expected the Sansamp signal to route to the amp, and then the master control on the amp to control the volume. Mr. Foxen
'Master' probably just controls what is coming out of the preamp. some work like that, some don't, the master on my Ashdown EB150 still controls volume if I go FX in.
bigjohn
http://www.ampeg.com/pdf/SVT-3PRO.pdf Looks to me from the system block diagram that the master volume is before the power amp in. Also looks like the tube gain is separate from the EQ and is after the power amp in - so that should still work.
Dood
Yup - agreed - if you want to make use of the master volume on the amp head to control your level, then plug the output of the sansamp in to the effects return socket.
